I often get asked about my “Disney Princess” title on my LinkedIn bio…
Back in 2019, I had the incredible honour of being both the chair of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) and the MC for the global finals in Macau. That same year a really talented documentary group used the GSEA as the backdrop for the amazing “Own The Room”.
Now… while the focus was rightly on the phenomenal stories of the brilliant #studentpreneurs representing their countries with their inspiring stories and businesses, in the background for a few of the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments – I made an appearance…
Then, in keeping with all things Disney – something magical happened…
During the pandemic, Own The Room was picked up by National Geographic. And where does NatGeo live? That’s right – Disney+…
So technically… I was on NatGeo. Which means… I was on Disney+. Which means…
I am a Disney Princess.
Okay, maybe not officially – but it has definitely been a conversation starter for the last few years!
I was asked recently why I don’t call myself a Jedi now that Star Wars is also owned by Disney but I feel that there are quite a few people who actually call themselves Jedi and that doesn’t quite fit me… Plus, when a big bearded guy proudly calls himself a princess, I hope in some small way it normalises people being different!
